How does the $15 off coupon work?
There’s nothing to activate — show it on your phone or bring a printout. It’s $15 off for most cars and 2000-and-up vans, SUVs and light trucks, or $10 off for 1999-and-older vehicles.
Is the state certificate included?
No — the $8.25 certificate is a separate state charge collected only when your vehicle passes.
Which vehicles qualify for the coupon?
Most cars and 2000-and-up vans, SUVs and light trucks get $15 off; 1999-and-older vehicles get $10 off. Diesels are quoted at the counter — call for a quick price.
Can I combine the coupon with another offer?
No — the coupon can’t be combined with other offers. Just mention it before we write up your service.
Are you really the lowest price in Lake Elsinore?
With the coupon, we’re the lowest-priced smog check in town for most cars and light trucks.

Do I need an appointment?
No — walk-ins are welcome, and appointments are available if you’d rather schedule.
Are you open on weekends?
We’re open six days a week, including Saturday. You’ll find the exact days and our current hours in the header and footer of every page.
How long does a smog check take?
Just a few minutes for most vehicles — you’re welcome to wait.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Discover and cash.
What should I bring?
Your DMV renewal notice if you have one, and your vehicle. That’s all.

What is a STAR smog check?
A smog check at a station the DMV monitors more closely. If your renewal notice names a STAR station, that’s exactly what we are.
How do I know if I need a STAR station?
Your DMV renewal notice will say a STAR station is required. If it does, bring it here.
Why was my car directed to a STAR station?
The DMV sends a share of vehicles to STAR stations for added oversight. It’s not a sign of a problem with your car.
What is a test-only station?
One licensed to inspect and certify but never repair — so there’s no upsell and no reason to fail you.
What happens if my vehicle fails?
We’ll explain why, you have it repaired anywhere you like, and you bring it back for the retest.

Do you test diesels?
Yes — we test diesel vehicles alongside gas cars and light trucks.
Do you test hybrids?
Yes — hybrids need a smog check just like gasoline cars, and we test them all.
Can you certify a gross polluter?
Yes — certifying a gross polluter after repair is something only a test-only station can do.

Do you send the certificate to the DMV?
Yes — when you pass, your certificate is filed with the DMV electronically, usually within minutes, so you can renew online.
Can you smog an out-of-state vehicle?
Yes — we provide the smog certification you need to register an out-of-state vehicle in California.
Do you handle change-of-ownership smog checks?
Yes — we can certify a vehicle for a sale or transfer while you wait.
Which vehicles are exempt from smog checks in California?
Gasoline vehicles from 1975 and older, diesels from 1997 and older or over 14,000 lbs, plus electric vehicles and motorcycles. Vehicles eight model years old and newer pay an abatement fee instead of testing.

Passing your smog check
Give your car the best shot.
Why do vehicles fail the smog check?
Usually an illuminated check engine light, incomplete readiness monitors, a worn catalytic converter, or tampered emissions equipment.
How can I improve my chances of passing?
Drive 15–20 minutes first so the engine and catalytic converter are hot, make sure the check engine light is off, and confirm the readiness monitors are complete.
Will clearing the check engine light help?
No — it resets the readiness monitors and causes a fail until they finish. Fix the underlying issue first.
How soon can I retest after repairs?
As soon as the repair is done and the monitors are complete. Bring it back and we’ll retest.
